Why Consistent Outreach Pays Off: A LinkedIn Story

January has quietly become one of my highest-demand months, and it has nothing to do with luck.

This season, a simple, short and sweet LinkedIn introduction turned into a Galentines dinner feature for DC Modern Luxury Magazine, followed by an upcoming Palm Beach inspired wedding editorial slated for their March issue. Both projects came from one intentional action: consistently introducing myself to people in my industry.

I want to share this story because it’s a reminder that visibility, not virality, is often what moves the needle.

The Power of a Simple Introduction

I sent a brief LinkedIn message to a senior event designer at a local catering company no pitch deck, no over-explaining. Just a warm introduction and a note about what I do.

That message led to a reply.

A question about print work.

And then an invitation to photograph their upcoming Galentines dinner editorial for DC Modern Luxury.

The shoot went beautifully. The collaboration felt aligned. And now I’m preparing to photograph their next feature, an elevated Palm Beach wedding editorial continuing a relationship that began with a single, intentional hello.

This is how momentum is built.

Consistency Builds Familiarity (and Trust)

People often think opportunities come from perfectly timed asks or big launches. In reality, they usually come from familiarity.

When you show up consistently, introducing yourself, engaging thoughtfully, and staying visible; you stop being a stranger and start becoming a name people recognize.

LinkedIn makes this especially powerful because:

  • You’re reaching people in a professional mindset

  • Your work history and credibility live in one place

  • Conversations can unfold naturally over time

You don’t need to sell in the first message. You just need to start the conversation.

A Mindset Shift That Changed Everything

For a long time, January felt like a “slow” month, something to push through before the year really began.

Now, I see January as a relationship-building month.

While others are waiting for inquiries to pick up, I’m:

  • Reintroducing myself to people I admire

  • Reaching out to brands and creatives I want to work with

  • Planting seeds that often bloom weeks or months later

The result? Editorial features, aligned collaborations, and a full pipeline before spring even arrives.

January isn’t slow. It’s strategic.

Let This Be Your Reminder

If you’ve been waiting to:

  • Introduce yourself

  • Send the message

  • Follow up

  • Share your work

This is your sign.

Opportunities rarely announce themselves loudly. Most of them begin quietly, in inboxes, in introductions, and in moments where you choose to show up before you’re asked.

Consistency compounds. Visibility opens doors. And sometimes, all it takes is one message to change the trajectory of your year.

Thank you to the amazing team at Get Plated for this opportunity!
